open a note to add information

At the moment, a user can only open the last approved note.

Clinicians would like to be able to re-open an old note to add additional information.

For example, on January 1st, the doctor sees the patient and asks for tests. On February 1, the results come in. He would like to open the note again to add the results of the tests requested on January 1st. This way, in a single note, you can view the consultation and the results.

We understand why it was designed this way due to medical-legal reasons. However, the issue is that other EMRs, which also follow medical-legal standards, allow users to reopen notes. It would be great if we could set this option—whether to allow reopening or not—at the site level, so it can be applied at the start of project deployments, rather than leaving it up to individual users to decide.

For medico-legal reasons, we should not allow clinicians to open their notes weeks after they have been signed. This would not look good in front of auditors, especially given that versioning of the note can't be accessed without our support team querrying it. We also have many clients who ask that the opening of notes by users be locked.

This said, there should be a way to AMEND a note. This is something we are looking at providing at some point, but currently do not have the bandwidth to build.
