Affected users: Family physicians and clinicians managing preventive health care for their patient panels.
Task affected: Preventive care tracking and patient recall workflow, specifically within the Reporting/Analytics module and directly inside the patient medical record (clinical alerts/reminders).
Impact: High clinical risk and substantial productivity loss. Occurs during every routine preventive care review. Lack of automated tracking leads to potential delays in cancer diagnoses, missed screening windows (e.g., Pap tests, colorectal screening), and gaps in immunization schedules. Physicians spend excessive clinical and administrative time manually reviewing charts to verify eligibility and status.
Current state: Physicians currently run broad demographic filters (such as age lists) and are forced to manually open and review each individual patient chart one by one to verify whether preventive tests or vaccines have been completed.
Competition consideration: Most modern primary care EMRs offer integrated clinical decision support, gap-in-care reporting, and automated preventive recall lists to identify due/overdue patients systematically.
