[Patient Profile] MSP Coverage - Validating the patient's name against the MSP registry

Affected user(s):

• This concerns all users in BC

• This problem can be encountered by any user that had to process billing for users.

Task affected:

• When entering the patient's MSP number, no demographics validation is ran against the MSP registry. This means that down the road, if the patient's information are incorrectly set in the MYLE chart, MSP might reject the claim due to name mismatch. This in turn leads to frustration and potential revenue loss for the providers.

Impact:

• This saves time in a particular manner as it does not save time within the EMR itself, but saves time spent handling rejected claims by MSP and correcting the information in the patient chart.

Current state:

• There is no work around and the clinic has to react to rejected claims when they come back.

Competition consideration:

• I do belive TELUS's CHR validates the patient data when entering the PHN.
