Add a flag for Results that are not linked to a patient.
Physicians are missing/not seeing results for unlinked patients.
In the event a physician is in a visit with a patient (in front of them) but the result is not linked yet, the result is then missed.
Patients that are not linked:
Out of Province
Patients that were not imported yet
CC of a results that has not been to the clinic yet
Patients with a short last name (to, li, 3 letters or less)
UPDATED ASKED DENIS
Patient linking is ONLY based on in province healthcard number
_______________
went through 15 results found 3 unlinked patients
In addition to above, users would like to know which one is "unlinked". The Result does not have to be linked to a patient automatically.
Not listed above, another scenario would be the physician works at another location. The result of the patients at the other location is sent to their MYLE environment when it should have been somewhere else.
Associating the above result to a patient could cause in assuming / adding the patient when the patient should not be part of the practice.
Back in the Plexia days; its more common for physicians to allow the auto-add of patients they havent seen before. Since they aren't working at multiple locations. But, for MYLE and a mainly GP base, it would be more of an issue. Therefore, in Plexia if the provider wanted to opt-out of the auto-adding patients, there is a section the patient and the result would appear to allow the user to add them to the environment if needed.
If we could safely associate an "unlinked" result to the patient file, it would already be auto-linked like it currently is when the patient has the same NAM as the one in the result.
There are a few ways to tackle this issue:
[Partial Fix]
1) Show an "Orphan Inbox" in the result that show all labs that are pending to be linked to a patient. The clinic would need to have some staff constantly looking at theses orphans.
- This solution may be phased and later include algorithms to match results in the Orphan Inbox by Phone Number or Address and suggest possibly related orphans labs in the patient lab inbox so that the doctor can link them. It wouldn't be perfect but it would be slightly better.
[Complete Solution]
2) Analyses the flow of labs for each specific cases one of one for the clinics where this is a major issue
Clinics that sees mostly babies that don't have health card yet
Clinics that sees mostly militaries which don't have health card since they are covered at the federal level.
Clinics for first nations for which patient often don't have health card.
Clinics that offers services that are not related to or covered by State Insurance and that don't have health card information in their system.
Etc...
