Affected users: Administrative staff and Clinic Management.
Task affected: Updating a patient's RAMQ number in their MYLE EMR chart following a legal gender change (e.g., when the RAMQ modifies the number by adding '5' to the birth month digit for a female patient).
Impact: Low frequency, but high severity. When the system cross-references the newly issued female RAMQ number with the patient's originally recorded "sex at birth" (male), it triggers a hard-blocking conflict. This completely prevents the clinic from updating the file, causing administrative dead-ends and potential billing issues.
Current state: There is no viable workaround. The system completely blocks the save action. In an attempt to bypass the error, staff might mistakenly create a duplicate patient chart (which then has to be legally deactivated, further complicating record management). Ultimately, they are forced to escalate to technical support.
