Do not count appointment in the calendar when it's not a patient

Actually, every entries in the calendar counts as an Appointment.

A real patient or a simple memo, make the number of appointments count in the banner.

Some clinics are counting the real patients appointments, so, it would be perfect for them to count the REAL appointments, linked to patient files only.
