Impact: There are many doses of drugs appearing in your drug database that are Approved by Health Canada but not Marketed. We have heard from several clients that having these Approved doses appear when prescribing can cause confusion for physicians, leading to incorrect prescriptions at the pharmacy which is inefficient and not ideal for the patient.
They have been in touch with our drug database provider, Vigilance Santé, and they have identified a field in their data that identifies the marketing status of each product (i.e. “see the marketing status field at position 67 in the NomprodPlus file”). Products that are Approved but not yet Marketed are marked as “AP”.
They suggested filtering these products from our drug search results, so that physicians do not see them.
