Dr Bradley Little:
The location of preventative activities in “my portfolio” doesn’t follow the same logic as other sections of the chart. We feel it makes more sense to be in the “communications” tab, where other clinical/panel health management sections are. It is buried in my portfolio, making physicians less likely to check.
Preventative items can only be sorted by due date. This limits the ability to manage these. I typically would want to manage them by the “item” i.e. cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, etc. Should be able to sort by any variable.
Preventative screening for cancer is inherently a messy part of clinical practice. Physicians can only tell patients so many times to go for these tests and then it is their responsibility, and I think there must be a better way to document this. I know status can be changed, but it is effortful to do this. It also makes it harder to manage these because they accumulate into 100s of preventative activities.
Resident doctors cannot enter a preventative activity and assign it to the attending physician.
