Follow-Up list – add “Specialist Name” column and allow column customization

  • Primarily physicians and clinical staff managing patient consults and follow-ups.

  • Reported by Dr. Kim Rutherford (Spectrum), but beneficial for all MYLE users who handle multiple referrals per patient.

Task affected:

  • Involves reviewing the Follow-Up list on a patient’s chart to manage and track ongoing consults.

  • Currently, users must open each consult individually to identify the specialist involved.

Impact:

  • Frequency: This list is referenced multiple times per day for nearly every patient encounter.

  • Time impact: Each extra click to view specialist details adds seconds per patient, accumulating to significant lost time in high-volume practices.

  • Overall impact:

    • The lack of a “Specialist Name” column causes inefficiency and confusion, especially when multiple referrals exist for the same specialty.

    • A more readable, customizable Follow-Up list would improve chart clarity and reduce navigation time.

Current state:

  • The Follow-Up list displays limited information (e.g., type, date, status).

  • The specialist name is hidden and only viewable upon opening the individual consult.

  • The “Due Date” column is often unused, as specialist response times depend on external factors.

Proposed solution:

  • Add a “Specialist Name” column to the Follow-Up list for at-a-glance visibility.

  • Allow users to customize visible columns, e.g., hide “Due Date”.

  • Ensure the updated layout remains clear and responsive for charts with multiple consult entries.
