For the practice in UMF Moncton New-Brunswick (a group of family doctors with residents and interns), it would be extremely useful to be able to manage appointments by groups and to have services linked between residents/interns/professionals to a supervising doctor.
Unlike in QC, NB patients are registered to a family doctor and NOT a resident. Residents can see patients assigned to different doctors as long as the patient is registered to their supervising doctors. This means that residents are grouped with supervising doctors depending on specific time blocks (see attachment).
As a user:
Log into MYLE
Go into the patient's file in the quick booking tool
Select the group of the registered family doctor (ex.: Dr Roy and his residents)
Book an appointment with either their registered family doctor or any professional (resident or intern) that would be part of their group. If the appointment is given to a professional that is not the family doctor, the appointment should be linked to the family doctor so that the appointment is only offered within a time frame in which this professional is supervised by the family doctor. (*)
(*) It is very important that the patient is booked in the group of their registered family doctor regardless of the professionals in a group. This means that a patient should only be seen by a specific professional when supervised by the family doctor at that time. For example, if resident A is scheduled to be supervised by Dr Roy in the morning and Dr Cormier in the afternoon, the appointments available in the morning for the residents should be services linked to Dr Roy only offered to Dr Roy's patients and vice-versa for Dr Cormier and his patients in the afternoon. Eventually, UMF Moncton will have a similar practice with nurses (where nurses will see patients of their supervising doctor) so this will need to be used for different professionals other than residents/interns.
