This affects mostly MOAs
This problem would only be specific to clinics that want to be able to have concurrent appointments in their calendar.
Task affected:
Currently, when giving an appointment to a patient, the system will automatically remove any conflicting availability in the provider's calendar. However, this clinic uses concurrent appointments to be able to get the patients in earlier and when they want them at the clinic rather than telling them they have to be there 15 minutes in advance for registration and processing.
Impact:
This happens every time they want to give an appointment in their schedule, as the working hours were configured as such.
The MOAs waste a considerable amount of time due to this behaviour of the EMR.
Current state:
Currently, the users have to create the appointment, then add manually the conflicting availability that is automatically removed by the system.
Competition consideration:
TELUS's most recent EMR allows for concurrent appointments, although it gives warnings that the users have to click through to complete the action.
